Starting around 2000, outstanding original television material was being produced on HBO, Showtime, and the smaller independent channels such as SciFi. Other than ABC's LOST, we generally avoided network TV and focussed on the quality independent series. This trend continued into the 2010's when networks began to beef up the quality of their programming to compete.

 

In the new millenium, America advanced with new HD programming and affordable rear-projection big screen televisions. Surround sound became popular, and the TV room was transformed into the media room.
